She's a big fan of Sun Tzu's Art of War. One whole lesson is devoted to Sun Tzu's words on gathering spies. She says a writer needs spies in order to gather intel. Good stuff. Thanks for sharing. :)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08673008115756142503noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4885821333601304826.post-79676020883107014912010-06-02T12:24:17.451-05:002010-06-02T12:24:17.451-05:00I love the advice. There is just too much rejection and hard work to make it worth it without that desire.

CDAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12160669603997465454noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4885821333601304826.post-28446916973682522462010-06-02T11:14:18.761-05:002010-06-02T11:14:18.761-05:00When it all comes down to it, I think, at least fo...When it all comes down to it, I think, at least for me, "boot camp" is a state of mind. It's easy to get caught up in the money-making/sales aspect of writing, which is definitely great, (not to mention necessary for someone who makes writing their career), but if a writer stops writing primarily because they LOVE it, they've lost something invaluable. Boot camp is a combination of having the discipline to learn all you can and be the best writer you can be, motivated by the kind of passion that keeps you going after 10, 20, 100 rejections.

Semper fi! ;)Jaimie Krychohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04065611005472592459noreply@blogger.com
